Hotel Petersburg’s Time Has Come
Development is well underway for the transformation of Petersburg’s 118-year-old hotel. When complete, guests near and far will enjoy an elevated, boutique hotel experience that boasts 68 spacious rooms, a fine-dining restaurant with a bar, an outdoor courtyard for dining, events, and entertainment, and a rooftop bar.
As a catalyst for the city’s continued revitalization, Hotel Petersburg’s mission is to provide an elevated memorable guest experience while honoring the history and fostering the rejuvenation of the City of Petersburg.
Nat Cuthbert, the hotel’s primary developer, is a resident of Petersburg and was inspired by the progress and improvements made to many of the city’s buildings and architecture over the last few years. In a place with so much growth and historical significance, Nat realized it was time to reintroduce Hotel Petersburg to the world.
While Hotel Petersburg will provide all the modern comforts expected by today’s travelers, certain elements of our hotel’s past will remain in place to maintain the historical resonance of our property. The renovation, estimated to cost $13.5 million, has included the restoration of several original design components, such as the extensive marble work on the ground floor, as well as decorative plaster molding and coffered ceilings.
Unexpected 19th and 20th-century decorative influences will keep guests engaged and entertained by transporting them away to a new place and time. This old world meets new design will create a distinctive style within a city of great historical prominence.
Boutique hotels are known for their unique character, intimate size, personalized service, and close ties with the local community. Through varied partnerships and collaborations, Hotel Petersburg will highlight our region’s best shops, museums, and historic sites.
Petersburg is one of the oldest cities in Virginia, with 13 of the state’s national historic locations within the city’s limits. Seven of these locations, also listed on the National Register of Historic Places, will be honored with one custom-designed suite on each floor. The character of each historically significant district will be reflected in each suite’s design so that guests may embrace the past and present history, architecture, and people of these districts.
